Declaration of the High Sheriff of Gloucestershire, Lieutenant Colonel Andrew Tabor JP. It was a wonderful procession from the courts to Gloucester Cathedral with mounted police, High Court Judges, High Sheriffs, County Court Judges and Dignitaries.
Installation of the new High Sheriff of Shropshire, Charles Lillis. Attended in court dress with Gillian, and it was followed by afternoon tea. Congratulations to Christine Holmes’ year in office; she did a remarkable job.
Dinner at the Town Hall in aid of the Herefordshire Community Champions Awards hosted by Councillor Brian Wilcox, Chairman of the Council, and Mary Thompson, Managing Director of Cargill Meats Europe. It was an amazing group of people from throughout the county who justly deserve recognition.
At 6pm I attended the Mayors Parlour at the Town Hall in court dress for a reception for the Macmillan nurses.
At 1.30pm I had a meeting with Glyn Morgan at the Hereford Cathedral to thank him for his help and advice during my shrieval year.
At 7.15pm I attended the Lord Lieutenant’s Cadets Award Ceremony at the Town Hall in court dress.
At 10am there was a meeting of the High Sheriff’s Consultation Panel. I gave a report of my year and also the future High Sheriffs were discussed. There are three waiting in nomination, and the panel is made up from a wide range of people representing the people of Herefordshire.High Sheriff
Attended the Service of Dedication for the installation of HHJ Daniel John Pearce-Higgins QC as the Honorary Recorder of the city of Hereford, and Robert, The Lord Lisvane KCB, DL as Chief Steward of the city of Hereford. Attended the Hereford Magistrates Mock Trial Competition 2017 at 10am, together with the Lord Lieutenant, and his Honour Judge Pearce-Higgins QC. The schools performed very well, and Whitecross School thoroughly deserved to win the competition.
