HEREFORDSHIRE COUNTRY FAIR – 3RD AUGUST 2014

19/09/2014

By 2014 Major Patrick Darling

The High Sheriff hosted the Herefordshire Country Fair at Caradoc.  Around 10,000 people attended and a five figure sum was raised for charity.  The President of The Country Fair was Jules Hudson and Julian Gallimore was the Chairman.  The Site Director Andrew Davies produced a wonderful day out for the trade stands and the arenas.  The Whitfield ring was run by John Baly and a team of volunteers from the South Herefordshire Hunt.  The Aramstone ring was the scene of some high class show jumping capably organised by June Savage.

An Act of Remembrance was held in the Main Ring to mark the centenary of the outbreak of hostilities in The First World War.  The prayers were led by the Reverend Mark Johnson.  Jules Hudson read out a brief history of the events running up to the start of the War.  The National Anthem was led by Shân Cothi the well know classical singer from Carmarthenshire.
