Bob and Bea attended the Herefordshire Shrieval Service held at Hereford Cathedral on Sunday 13th October.  The Choral Evensong was also attended by HM Lord-Lieutenant of Herefordshire, The Countess of Darnley JP and the Earl of Darnley DL, The Bishop of Ludlow, The Right Reverend Alastair Magowan as well as members of the Judiciary of Herefordshire, Church, Civic and business guests as well as members of the Voluntary Service in the County.  The High Sheriffs of Shropshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire, Sir Robert Rogers, the Clerk of the House of Commons and Lady Rogers and the Right Honourable Lord Justice McFarlane with Lady McFarlane were also in attendance.  The Service was organised by The Reverend Canon Andrew Piper, Precentor of Hereford Cathedral and the music was organised by Geraint Bowen, Director of Music at the Cathedral.

Following the official procession the congregation was welcomed by The Dean of Hereford, The Very Reverend Michael Tavinor.  The music was a mixture of modern and traditional hymns, all sung magnificently by the Cathedral Choir.  The first Lesson was read by Thomas Windows and the second Lesson was read by Rory Turnbull – both members of the Hereford Cathedral School Sixth Form.  The Prayers of Intercession were read by The Reverend Prebendary Sam Ashton, Chaplain to the High Sheriff and instead of a formal sermon a presentation was given by the Chaplain, assisted by Hereford Cathedral School Sixth Formers Serena Linley Adams, Susanna Magowan (who sang exquisitely), Rory Turnbull and Thomas Windows.  It was a very moving presentation concentrating on Bob’s chosen charitable efforts for his Shrieval year of Road Safety, especially for young people.

The Service was followed by an afternoon tea reception at the Shirehall, hosted by Bob and Bea.
