The First Light Charity – 6th March 2019

A new charity has arrived in Hereford, supporting those who served in the Armed Forces or Emergency Services suffering from depression, anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or other mental issues. It is odd that there are many charities raising money for these causes but few providing this sort of service. A crucial aspect of what First Light has to offer are café/hubs that those seeking help can drop into. They already have such hubs in Gosport, Hawick, Lancaster, Redcar and Scarborough (all places with many veterans).  Now they have  one in Broad Street (41-43, just to the left of the Green Dragon Hotel), Hereford. There are many thousands of veterans in Herefordshire. Organisations like the Royal British Legion and SSAFA can help to signpost those that they know about to this sort of service but cannot provide it themselves.

“A place for a brew, a chat and some delicious home-baked cakes for veterans and the public alike.” We can vouch for that.

Here is a link to the first Light web-site.
