Bob and Bea attended the Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service Annual Medals and Awards Ceremony 2013 on Friday 22nd November at Hereford Town Hall.  The evening was hosted by Chief Fire Officer Mark Yates and Bob and Bea were greeted by Deputy Chief Fire Officer Richard Lawrence.  Bob was delighted to present the High Sheriff’s Community Safety Volunteer of the Year Award to Bernard Gardner.  Bernard epitomises the self-sacrifice and generosity of volunteers throughout the UK. Bernard has done over 150 hours of volunteering with the Service this year using his people person skills and personality to assist the Fire and Rescue Service in offering safety and preventative advice to people in their homes.  He has also worked alongside Age Concern and has worked with young people in the “Smoke House” offering training to people on how they would escape a smoke filled room and building.

After the presentations there was a reception giving everyone the opportunity to share their experiences.
