On Sunday 27th April 2014 The south Marches District Scout Council held their Annual St Georges Day Celebration Service and parade in Hereford Cathedral. The Scouts and Guides, who numbered around 1,000, paraded to the church with their banners behind the Cheltenham Pipes and Drums.  The start of the service was marked by ASL Mathew Bayley blowing the Kudu Horn.  The procession of the colours then took place and they were received and placed upon the altar by the Dean.  Chris Ruffe led the service which included an entertaining act of the slaying of the dragon by St George. All Scouts and Guides renewed their promises. The High Sheriff was present, representing the Lord Lieutenant and said a few words to the congregation. The Mayor of Hereford was also present and the Mayor of Leominster was represented.    At the conclusion of the service the guides and scouts marched to the Castle Green where a Barbeque was held and Miss Anna King the District Commissioner dismissed the parade.
