Presentation of Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service to Herefordshire Growing Point

On Thursday, 4th July Bob attended the presentation of the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service to Herefordshire Growing Point at Holme Lacy College.  The Chairman, Laura Hone introduced HM Lord Lieutenant of Herefordshire, The Countess of Darnley JP to the assembled guests and talked about the charity. Herefordshire Growing Point aims to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities through the therapeutic benefits of gardening.  Lady Darnley presented the Award which was accepted on behalf of Herefordshire Growing Point by Jane Simpson and Hilary Ward.   In her speech after presenting the Award Lady Darnley emphasised what an excellent charity Herefordshire Growing Point is and its achievements and thanked the volunteers and committee who work so tirelessly on behalf of the charity.  Afterwards the guests were given refreshments and shown around the garden which is a most peaceful and tranquil place.
