The High Sheriff’s Service was held in Hereford Cathedral on Sunday 5th October 2014.  The Lord Lieutenant and The Earl of Darnley, The Chairman of Herefordshire Council , the Right Worshipful Mayor of Hereford, the Mayors of the Market Towns and The Bishop of Ludlow were present along with Her Majesty’s District and Circuit Judges, and The Right Honourable Lord Justice McFarlane the Deputy Chair of Hereford Magistrates Bench, Justices of the Peace, Canons and Prebendaries from the Cathedral. The lessons, being the tale of Naboth the Jezrealite and the Parable of the Vineyard and the wicked tenants were read by the Right Honourable Sir Justice McFarlane and Mrs Julia Steels JP, Deputy Chair of the Herefordshire Magistrates Bench. Reverend Neil Patterson, the High Sheriff Chaplain preached the sermon and the Reverend Prebendary Kay Garlick led the prayers of intercession.  The Dean took the Service.  The High Sheriff is extremely grateful to the Precentor for all his work in organising such a marvellous Service.  Afterwards there was a reception for the congregation in the Shire Hall.
