The Royal British Legion County Rally – 28 June 2014

The Royal British Legion Herefordshire held their County Rally in Hereford on Saturday 28th June. County Branches and others marched to the cathedral together with Standards behind The Bugles and Drums of the Stedfast
Association. Afterwards a service was held in the Cathedral attended by The Lord Lieutenant, The Chairman of Herefordshire Council and the Right Worshipful The Mayor of Hereford.  The Band of the Royal Welsh and the Stedfast Association played during the service. The service also commemorated the Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, one hundred years previously, and the momentous chain of events that led to the start of the Great War.

The sermon was preached by The rved (Group Captain) Nicholas Barry QHC Deputy Chaplain-in-Chief Personnel RAF. The County Chaplain of The Royal British Legion, The Revd Marcus Small Led the Act of Remembrance  and the Act of Commitment.

After the service the Royal British Legion marched past and the Lord Lieutenant took the salute.  Refreshments were served subsequently in Suvla Barracks.
